Fortuna grew out of a collaboration between Orlin and me. As a visual artist, I’ve long been drawn to myth and symbolism, and the idea for Fortuna grew from that fascination.
Orlin brought more than twenty years of experience as a professional tarot reader. I couldn’t think of anyone whose judgement I trusted more as we explored whether AI could do justice to a tarot reading.
Together, we shaped Fortuna’s voice through careful testing and many conversations: how it interprets the cards, makes connections, and speaks to the person asking. That voice carries something of both of us—our sensibilities, our experience, and our care for what a reading can offer.

- Do I need tarot experience?
- No. You can start without knowing the cards. If you already read tarot, Fortuna offers fresh perspectives to deepen your understanding and develop your practice.
- Do I need physical cards?
- No. You can draw your cards inside the app. If you do own a deck, you can photograph your spread instead.
- Which decks can I photograph?
- Rider–Waite is recommended for both upright and reversed cards. Other decks can work too, but recognition may vary, especially with reversed cards.
- How do the free readings work?
- Start with three free readings, kept in this browser without an account. Create an account to save them and continue up to five free readings in total, even if you sign up early. After that, you can choose a subscription. Guest readings are kept on your device. Create a free account to keep them.
- Can I use Fortuna on iPhone?
- Yes — open app.fortunatarot.net in Safari. You can use it straight away or follow the optional Home Screen guide on The App page.
